Bridging the Gap Between Science & Art
_"Jerry Saxon uses microscopes, polarizing filters and lenses, and whether
he is capturing reeds reflected in water or light passing through a
diffraction grading, every photo is carefully composed for maximum impact. This is a
marriage of science and art." – Elizabeth Roberts, Times Staff Reporter

Kirlian Photography
__In Russia during the 1930’s, Valentine and Semyon Kirlian explored a
novel way of picture taking that uses electricity in place of lenses and
light. A transformer is used to produce 50,000 volts that pass through
the subject and the film. A very small amount of electric current
passes through the film and produces an image. Both black and white and
color film can be used up to size of 4 " X 5." The image cannot be
seen until the film is processed.

Polarized Light Photomicroscopy
__Dr. Saxon has received a scholarship at the McCrone Research Association to study how to identify
particles using polarized light photomicroscopy and ended up having
several one man art shows of his colorful work. He used common everyday crystals
for his subjects.

A Tribute to Elliot Porter
_Eliot Porter was the father of color nature photography. He found
beauty in chaos – in fields of grass and the bark of trees. He
published twenty five books on photography around the world. Reading through some of his books
encouraged Jerry to change his style of photography from traditional
beauty to abstract art.

Plastic Art
Dr. Saxon is the only artist to create colorful works of abstract art using a technique he calls "Plastic Art." Two polarizing filters along with numerous sheets of transparent plastic are used to create these images.
